  1.   It only takes a few days, usually four. Hang in there. I hate to say it, but when you are really weak, try a couple of drags. Dont have the pack around, dont do it until the next day. Get through a night, its should be easier when you wake up.

Exercise, it increases your dopamine level. Gratification Chemicals from your own body making it, instead of nicotine. Stay busy. Dont get bored. and dont quarrel with hubby.

      Go for a walk, anything,,

  2. just try chewing some gum or something, u can do it.

  3. Just remember what your goal is and never let the red guy on your shoulder convince you that you are punishing yourself.  I have found that the hardest part of quitting an addiction is that you feel you are depriving yourself of what you want/deserve and somebody else is taking that away from you. Do it for yourself first and everybody else will benefit.  Good luck and let us all know that you did it a few months from now by offering advice to others in need!  A few things that helped me along:

    Sugarless gum

    Celery sticks

    Walking

    Self Pride

  4. C'mon, you can do this! Just keep on fighting, you know how bad it is to smoke, so why do it? Try to do stuff that makes you think of other things, like exercising.

  5. I'm with you on this one.  I am trying again when I get up in the a.m.  I am going to use the 21mg patch this time.  I know that feeling of wanting to strangle some one because you want that smoke.  I do best if I stay away from everyone for the first 3 days.  I try to do everything differently than normal because everything seems to be associated with the darn cigarettes.  I have to sit in a different chair than I would normally sit in.  I don't talk on the phone for awhile because that was a smoke time for me.  I  don't drink coffee because that makes me have cravings.  The biggest one for me is to stay clear of smokers for the first 30 days.  I plan to take a walk every time I get cravings and I plan to pamper myself with good music, bubble baths, and get back to nature.  Good luck to you.....and me too.  We can l**k this and be happier for it.

  6. it is important to remember:

        * avoid situations where you may be tempted to have a cigarette (eg. coffee break, at the pub, when around other smokers, etc…)

        * don’t be too concerned if you put on a kilo or two

        * change your routine

The following tips may also be helpful.

       1. Write down your reasons for quitting (keep these close to hand, just in case)

       2. Plan your quit day and make it one without too much stress or social activity

       3. Find a quitting partner

       4. Seek the support of friends and family

       5. Throw away smoking related items: ashtrays, lighters, smokes

       6. Start a simple exercise routine such as walking or bike riding

       7. Avoid alcohol and other smokers during the first 2 weeks

       8. Practice deep breathing (helps you to relax and the extra oxygen makes you feel good)

If you live in Australia here is a good website:

Keep the following 4 Ds in mind when you have a craving.

        * Delay: remember that the worst cravings last for only a few minutes and will become even less frequent the longer you have quit.

        * Deep breathe: this should help you relax and focus your mind on something else.

        * Drink water: it is a good idea to drink plenty of fluids to help flush the nicotine and other toxins out of your system.

        * Do something else: you could go for a walk, to the movies or visit a supportive friend. Try eating an apple or cleaning your teeth when you would normally have a cigarette. You could hold something else, such as a pen or beads, to replace the need to hold a cigarette, or chew some gum or eat or drink a healthy snack to have something other than a cigarette in your mouth.

I have heard that chewing gum (the normal kind) can help avoid cravings

  7. Chew gum, or suck on hard candy. You can also try exercising  or taking a hot shower. If you have pierced earrings, try twirling one around in your ear -- seriously, it's an acupuncture point and it will release a little burst of calming endorphins. Not sure about deep breathing, but a lot of places recommend it.

If this doesn't work I suggest you ask your doctor for Chantix, it's much better than the earlier generations of meds. Also, combination therapy. And don't overlook the commit lozenges and the Chinese e cigarettes, which are just like smoking but without the cancer risk.

  8. i know how you are feeling,

the first day is the hardest just remember each passing second will get easyier, youve done the hardest part,,,, well done.

try chexing gum not just nicotine gum but also sugery gum, it does help.

and when you get the urge to smoke just go somewhere or do something which makes it imposible to smoke, ie start nitting or take up a hbby anything which will take your mind off it.

its normal to snap at your husband, and if he loves you he will understand how difficult this is for you,

but remeber well done and kepp on going,

    hope this was helpful

  9. You should have smoke like one a day for like a couple of weeks. You have to "ween" yourself. Doctors have said smoking is harder to quit than some drug addictions. I recommend drinking alot of water to flush out some of the nicotine in your bloodstream. This will lessen the stomache aches and headaches and the shakes will eventually die down..and your teeth will get brighter, and your nails will too!

Proud ya took the initive but you jumped the gun...so yeah do those things and dont sit idle very long!
