okay, so i went to the beach over summer and i got sand in the camera, and whenever i turned it on it kept going on and off, like four times and the lens would keep going up and down.. and then it started working.. it's been about a MONTH now, and when i turn on my camera it makes a deep "beep" sound and the lens goes up and down about 5 times, then it works but it's all BLURRRY. do you think i could get it repaired... or how much does it cost to, and where can i? or is there way where i can fix it..? :(.

  1. There's probably sand in the lens assembly. The beep indicates that the camera is experiencing a problem with the lens initiation and the motion is the camera's attempts at initiating the lens. It's actually weird that your FE-230 lets you shoot with a failure; most cameras give up and shut down.

You'll have to contact Olympus to arrange for repair service. This type of repair will not be covered by warranty and the service cost is almost guaranteed to be outrageous. You should try contacting local camera repair shops to see if they clean digital cameras. Be sure to identify your camera make and model and the situation. Doing so will undoubtedly void your warranty (if any exists) but you may get away with a smaller bill. Get estimates from Olympus and the local shops to be sure.
