i have a hamster nd i got it like two weeks ago. i play with him every night, and like hes always running and hyper. but yesterday night i was playing with him and i let him free a little bit into this one corner and just watch him to make sure he doesn't run away. so then i look up for one second and i look back he ran from the corner and about a minute later me and my sister found him under the table that holds our tv. my sister got him out quick so he wouldn't run farther behind the table. after that he went back into the corner i always let him in, and he just layed down[which he never does]. now today when i was playing with him he was so scared to be in my hands, i hhaven'tseen him like this. hes never been this terrified before. i think he got like ttraumatized idk but if not does anyone know what happened or how i can bring him back to normal?

  1. please take him to the vet

  2. You should call your local vet. and tell them, they will give you a better answer than anyone I think. Because if somethink is wrong you want to see a vet immedietly but first I would just cal.

Well I hope your hamster will be alright

  3. That's exactly right. When prey animals, like rodents, feel scared in any way, they instincfully limit movement and freeze up. In the wild, this behaviour helps them camoflauge from predators.

There is nothing you can, or need to do to make him act normally. He was scared, and will feel unsure about coming out of the cage for a while longer. Just keep acting with him like you normally would, just remember to be respectful and not to over-handle him.

Also, it is very unsafe to allow him out like that. Obviously, it is very easy for him to get away, and this would probably happen again. Why don't you buy a ball for him, or even better a playpen.
