Question:

Please help me pick a DVD Recorder!?

Hi I'm looking to buy a DVD Recorder to free up some space on my Sky+ box! But I'm not really sure where to start. My hubby wants a multi-region one, as our current dvd player is, but if it would be really expensive I'd rather just keep or current dvd player as well as have a recorder.

I'm not sure if we need one with a hard disc drive, or a digital tuner (as we have sky). If the recorder is analog can we record sky programs.

Sorry if this all sounds totally dumb, but rather here than in the shops!

  1. You cant record sky so if this is your reason for buying one you are wasting your money

  2. Funai make an excellent 250Gb hard drive recorder for around £150 available on Ebay and yes you CAN record Sky if you connect it correctly & if you have problems connecting it up then please feel free to message me & I'll give you full instructions. Ignore anyone that says it can't be done. It Can cos I am already doing it.

  3. Ellion DTR-850D 160GB HDD DVD Recorder with DivX and Freeview

I would go for this one ,Divx recorders play any computer files like avi xvid etc etc. Igot one 2 months ago and have never looked back. i burn files straight from pc then watch them as many times as i like all this without converting them to dvd first. Its entirely upto you what you buy but i recommend a divx recorder. Try e bay you might be surprised!

  4. Try the Sony RDRHXD970. It has a 250gb hard drive, analogue and digital tuners with EPG, and 1080p upscaling. I bought one last Christmas and have yet to find any faults with  it.
