  1. You pulled out of a parking spot and hit a car.

Then, despite not being a body person with expertise, decided there was no damage, and the damage that was there was already there because you saw it before you hit it, but want us to believe you didn't see it since you hit it.

Then you left, despite having someone witness your acts.

That's called a "hit and run."  It's illegal.  You should have, at the very least, left a note with your contact information.

You didn't mention a state, here is the hit and run law for Wyoming:

    (b)  Except as provided in subsection (c) of this section, any person failing to stop or to comply with subsection (a) of this section shall, upon conviction, be imprisoned not more than one (1) year, fined not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both.

You have good reason to be worried.

  2. you'll find out in a couple of days or so ..if you get a call from an insurance company..give it a couple of weeks...if nothing happens then you're home free...

but in the future...if something happens and its MORE than scratches...i hope you would let the person know as im sure you would want that person to tell you...

  3. everything is going to be ok.... so sit down and tell yourself that until you believe it... it might take a few min or a few hours....

  4. found a new scratch on my car one day and a note on the windshield:

"Anybody who saw me hit your car thinks I'm leaving you my name & number."

  5. You should always stop and as a minimum leave a note with your name and number.  You could get charged with leaving the scene of an accident.  Most likely, if you are telling the truth and there was no damage to the other car, nothing will happen.

  6. You should be worried and it all goes as planned you can and should be charged with a hit and run, just wait till they come to your work or home and then you can explain this to the police...

  7. theres nothing to be scared of really

it might matter how long its been

  8. Ok... let me get this straight:

You saw the car enough to know that there were minor scratches already on it but you didn't see the car well enough to not hit it with your car...

Is that really the story you would have us believe?

It is called a "Hit and Run" accident and it is illegal.

Why didn't you wait for the other driver to come out or go into the store to find him?

Do you really think that a body dammage assessment done through the open window of a car is sufficient to assess any damages?

How  could you see, for instance, if you had knocked the other cars bumper out of allignment a quarter inch?

That would still be damage, requiring a body shop to repair it, wouldn't it?

You are getting a lot of sympathy here and I don't buy it.

    The facts of the matter:

    You hit someone elses car

You claim you saw scratches on the car already, but it is obvious that you did not see the car well enough to not run into it. (this puts your eyesight and mental perception into doubt)

You did not get out of your car and do a fair assessment of any damages.

Obviously you had somewhere else to go, and you getting there was more important than another persons property that you likely damaged.

This shows that you are a selfish person.

You left the scene of the accident without seeking the owner of the car you hit, or leaving any contact information for that person.

This also shows a great deal of selfishness on your part.

Hit and run laws were written with selfish people just like you in mind.

  9. I really don't think she will. Love you have nothing to be worried about, If she told you to be careful next time I think you should be fine. Just remember what she told you. I agree with her be more careful the next time you are there. She also probobly knew the scratches were there before you even hit her so worry no longer, you're fine.

  10. Technically what you did was HIT and RUN.  And to make it worse, you had witnesses.

What WILL happen is any body's guess.  Luckily (for you) most people don't give a c**p about helping out strangers (the other car owner).

    Good Luck...

  11. u didn't do nothing so your kk

  12. You should have left a note on the car.

  13. Chill out, I don't think she would go to those extremes to get you in trouble, she doesn't know you.

  14. nah if she just said to be careful next time . youll be fine cos she isnt really bothered just telin you to be care full . not only for the sake of others but you aswell. i think you'll be fine. dont worry. chin up.
