  1. start with free end of rope and go up through top 3 pulley--then continue down to bottom two pulley thread through head back up to three pulley thread through middle grove head back down to two pulley then back up to three pulley through last rode down to  two pulley where there should be a hole to either stick rope through and make a knot that secures the line or tie there---then hook bottom two pulley to load u wish to raise and pull the other end of line and bingo it's easier to do.

  2. The rope would need to be six times the length of the distance between your load and the top block.

Also when rigging a block and tackle with three sheaves at the top and two at the bottom, the tailing line (you pull) should be in the middle (center) sheave of the top block.

The line ties off to the bottom block, goes up through the right side sheave, comes down and goes trough the bottom right sheave, back up to the left side sheave leaving the center one till last. If you hang it differently, a heavy load will tip the top block, thus your safe working weight will be much less.

  3. You would have four parts (one continuous length) supporting the load. The mechanical advantage would be 4 to one.

  4. yes it would nearly always be one piece of rope unless it uses purches.. take a photo.

  5. There is only one length of rope, it passes round all the pullys.
