In school, I am in Special Education. I am not mentally disabled or anything. I used to have seizures early on in my life (I am fourteen now.) I missed a lot of information since I used to have mini seizures in school. Since sixth grade I've been in Special Education and It's really ruined my life. In sixth grade I was put on a team with all of my friends, and then they switched me over to the other team with NONE of my friends. I was humiliated & upset. In seventh grade, It was much better. I was with nice people & I was with my friends. In eighth grade It was okay but the Special Education teachers really made me upset. They also made my close friend upset too. They told our grades to another Special Education student & that made us upset because It's supposed to be private. I am going into High School & I'm afraid I'm going to be picked on and embarrassed. I'm stressed. I don't want help anymore. All I needed help in was Math & they've kept me behind, in all my classes.

  1. have your parents contact the school and ask for an independent test to be performed by a third party, to see where you actually are.  go to see a psychologist, who may be able to help you with your concerns and maybe even recommend that you be in different classes.

  2. You are afraid but you are also very much aware of your situation and do not accept it as it is. That is a good attitude and this will bring you where you want to be, but not without a fight and without more disappointments to overcome.

Our communities are impregnated with discrimination. We discriminate on the color of a skin, a language that is spoken , the color of hair, the income of your parents and the list goes on. And you feel these types of discrimination as a result of your school career and the lack of understanding for your situation. And too bad that will not change immediately.

I do not know you so I have to make an educated guess what will work for you.

Now you possibly go to the classroom where a teacher explains a certain subject and she asks if you have understood what she has told. Then you get homework and you go home etc.

Try to change the way you study.

Take your textbook and other material and read the chapter that the teacher will treat in her next class. Read it and look at what you understand and what not. Try to make the exercises and assignments. Use the Internet and find more and different information about the topic your studying. Then write down the questions about these parts, that  you do not understand completely.  Now when you go to your class you are able to comprehend much better what is taught and you are able to ask these questions during the lessons, so you are able to comprehend it better. And you will see that now your homework is becoming very easy as wel as your exams and tests.

When you can get  special ed teachers, use them effectively in the same way. Prepare what you want to have explained to you and use them to your own benefit. That is a lot more effective for both of you. And after some time you are just part of the group and back within the setting you want to be.  And this way of studying is effective the rest of your life. Always be prepared about what possibly is coming towards you. And that you understand that is proved by  the fact that you came with this question. Never ever give up, Just do it.

  3. Law requires a three year reevaluation.  You should be due for this. Have your parents ask for it.  One goal of special ed is to get students out of special ed and back into the regular classroom. Talk to the administration.

  4. My advice to you is have your parents/guardians contact the school guidance counselor so they can take a closer look at what your educational needs are.  Keep your chin up-attitude is everything!
