Simplify the expression

( 5 x + 3 ) ^2 + (4 x - 6 ) ^2

  1. (25x^2 + 30x +9) + (16x^-48x+36)  ( used (a+b)^2 and (a-b)^2 formula.)

    resolve same terms.

    41x^2 - 18x +45

    then add like terms

    ..lets do it step by step..when the problem says you square it (e.g. 2^2, multiply the term by itself two times, if it's cube, 2^3 multiply the term by itself 3times...etc..thats monomial)

    ..now how about binomial..just like ur problem??

    .first: square the first term, 5x --> 25x^2, square the last term, 3^2 --> 9, to find the middle term, multiply the (1st and 2nd term) times 2 --> (5x) times (3) = 15x times 2 --> 30x.

    .so the first binomial's answer is 25x^2 + 30x + 9

    ..second binomial..the same,

    .square the 1st term, 4x --> 16x^2, square the last term, -6 --> 36, multiply the (1st and 2nd term) times 2 (always), (4x) times (-6) = -24x times 2 --> -48x..

    .answer for the 2nd binomial 16x^2 -48x + 36

    ..adding the two, (25x^2 + 30x + 9) + (16x^2 -48x + 36) will yield you -->41x^2 -18x + 45

    ..just always remember your index laws, multiplying variables --> add the exponents, addition of algebraic expressions and also how to add integers (signed numbers e.g. -4)
