Please help me... this is so frustrating!?

Question

I really want to be a singer. That is my ultimate dream is to be a recording artist. I have a decent voice - it's just rough around the edges. I've always sort of had a love for singing but didn't decide i wanted to be a recording artist until earlier this year.

I had been so afraid to tell anyone about this - even my parents! I finally did and now slowly but surely I'm begining to tell friends and relatives. I only sing when I'm walking around the house or driving in the car. However, now that my friends and family are begining to find out about my singing they want to hear it.

I am not completely comfortable singing in fron of everyone yet and I don't think I will be until after I take singing lessons and work on my voice a bit.

So anyways, here's what I need help with: I already know which vocal teacher I want to go to but my mom has yet to call her. It's so frustrating because i feel as though one of my dreams are being put on hold. Everytime i ask her to call she just...

Tell her it's your dream, and that you feel it's unfair that she's ignoring you.

Talk to your mom when she is an a relaxed mood catch her off guard and be very kind and sweet. For example if it is a quiet day and she is laying down somewhere now would be the chance to strike, bring the phone with you too, and act nice but not too nice, or she'll think your up to something, and remember to look i her eyes and say "mom please call it's my dream."

I think you should just tell your mother that this is something you really want to put yourself into.  Tell her you want to give it a  try for lets say... 2 - 3 months, and see how things go.  Promise her you will work hard and do everything the teacher tells you to do.  Promise her you will practice on your voice x amount of minutes a day.    If things move in the right direction, and your mom sees how hard you are working at it, I am sure she will not have a problem supporting this dream!
