I do not have any plants, no open containers of food on the counter (the food is in the fridge). Every where I walk I seen them from cooking to watching tv. I also have an indoor dog.

  1. Put up any food you have out on counters fruit especially. Make sure all your trash is taken out. Make sure you don't have any damp towels laying around in the bathroom. If  you clean these things up, They should be gone in a day or so. We have them to these are the things I check for when we get them.  I have learned they like things that are damp/moisture.

  2. In a bowl put a little bit of vinegar and water.  Add some diswashing liquid to it.  That should take care of it.

  3. If the gnats you are talking about are fruit flies try putting cider vinegar in a bowl (an inch or two will do it) and then add a drop of dawn dishwashing detergent.  The insects are drawn to it and they drown in the solution.  Good luck!

  4. Since you said gnats, I'm suspecting Fungus Gnats.

Fungus gnats need a food source for their larvae... fungus. Since you have no house plants here's what you'll need to do:

Reduce the depth of any mulch you have near the house to less than one inch so it can dry. Check for and fix any water leaks inside. Replace any rotted wood on attached decks or stairs.

All of those can lead to a fungus problem, and fungus gnats.

Good luck - the buggers are hard to get rid of, but no pesticide is necessary... and I haven't found one yet that works.
