1. arthur weights 34lb more than lily. their combined weight is 180lb less than four times lily´s weight. how much does arthur weight?

2. nick worked 16 hours last week. he earned 5 per hour at a local restauranty and 5.50 at a grocery store. if he earned a total of 82, how many hours did he work at the grocery store?

3. sean weights 10lb more than twice brad´s weight. if brad gains 10lb, together they´ll weight 230lb. how much does each weight now?

1)arthur=a , lily=l

a= l +34   and a+l=4l-180

=> (l+34) + l =4l-180 => 2l=214 => l=107

=> a= 107 +34 = 141

2)let x be hrs at restaurant and y be hours at grocery store.

x+y=16

5x+5.5y=82  => y=4 =>x=12 so answer is 4

s=10+2b

b+10+s=230

=> b=70 and s=150
