Please help me understand how to find the zeros of functions such as this?

g(x) = 1 + cos x

How would I go about finding the zeros of this function? Shouldn't there technically be an infinite number of zeroes since this is a cosine function? I'm so confused, lol. Thanks in advance!

  1. This equals zero when cos x is equal to -1.

Cos x is equal to negative one for odd multiples of π.

so the zeros are at π, 3π, 5π etc.

You can represent this as x = kπ, k is an odd integer, there are other ways of doing this too, so look it up in your text
