Question:

Please help me with a "thank you" letter after my interview today?

The interview went very well. I am pleased with the salary and even more with the small size of the company, but feel that I dressed too professional and came across as someone who wants a cutting edge job, which this totally isn't. Several times the interviewer (decision maker) said "you have all the skills and qualifications to handle this job with ease" He seemed to be summing me up probably on my fancy suit and glam hairdo (which by the way was a very much more professional than his current office administrator). He said "my only fear is that you will get bored here and want to leave. We don’t have a whole lot of work. I don't mind if you want to read a book or something, but I wouldn't like you to get bored". He sweetened the offer by saying that he would allow me to be very flexible with my timings, which is a priority for me.

I really want this job. At my stage of life i want something to do in the mornings (my husband earns well) and I would love the extra pocket money, plus have a reason to dress up and go out in the morning. This job suits me perfectly. I'm going crazy sitting home with nothing to do.

What should i say in my "thank you" letter to make him choose me and know what a simple person I am.. By the way this was the second interview. The first one was with the person I will be replacing. She said I was perfect for the job.

Thank you for reading my LONG story.

  1. Be honest in your letter and follow it up with a phone call letting them know that you think the job would be absolutely perfect for you.Let the phone call be your opportunity to lighten up a bit, a little humor is always good too. Although qualifications are extremely important, so is personality. And if you don't get it, remember your lesson.

  2. How about:

Thank you so  much for the opportunity to meet with you and to discuss the available position. After some careful consideration I have concluded that I am very interested in working for your company. I like the flexible schedule, the job description and the people I would be working with. I hope you will consider me. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

  3. sorry but i don't think it is appropriate for you to send a letter at all, your interview is your opportunity and it sounds like you did really well, but as an employer i must say i would find it strange someone sending me a letter like this and would actually put me off hiring them which is obviously the opposite of what you are going for.

I think you need to just wait and see what come of it, if they hire you then fantastic but if they call and say theydon'tt want you and that the reasons you are thinking is why then you have theopportunityy then to get them to change their minds.

    Good luck

  4. Sweetie you have to be the one to decide which JOB is suitable for your lifestyle.

  6. Be honest.

  7. Body. Two average-length paragraphs should make up this section. In the first paragraph, thank the reader for meeting with you and convey your enthusiasm about the possibility of working for the company. You might mention the date of your interview and the position for which you applied. Make a single return between paragraphs. In the second paragraph, briefly review your qualifications and special skills, and how you can be an asset to the company. You might want to mention an interesting topic or rewarding moment from your interview.

Last paragraph. Thank the reader once again for considering you for the position. State your confidence again in your ability to be an asset to the company. Tell the reader that you look forward to hearing from him/her soon, and give a specific date when you plan to follow up with a phone call.

Close. Make a single return after the last paragraph and type the close, aligning it with your return address. Any of the following words or phrases can be used to close: Sincerely, Very truly yours, Sincerely yours, or Cordially. The close is followed by four returns. On the next line, type your name. Sign your first and last name in the space between the close and your typed name.

    Good luck to you!
