Please help me with college biology.. about prokaryotes and eukaryotes?

pls don't think that I'm not doing my homework. this is the hardest question I suppose so I am asking you guys for help..

Knowing that archaeas kind of branch out from eukaryotes,

Propose a hypothesis to explain how bacteria and archaea could have, together, given rise to eukaryotes.

  1. Symbiosis.  If in evolutionary history a prokaryote "invaded" an archeobacteria you'd have a eukaryote.  Mitochondria and chloroplasts would be the remaining evidence of this event.


  2. "The endosymbiont theory would suggest that an early prokaryotic cell actually surrounded/engulfed another prokaryotic, but did not digest that cell. Instead, that cell continued to live inside of it symbiotically much like algae living inside coral polyps. The big cell may have been capable of eating heterotrophically, and the cell inside of it would have been able to produce nutrients photosynthetically. Both would have benefitted the other. You can imagine a number of arrangements where a cell living inside of a cell would be a mutually helpful living arrangement.

    Anyway, after many many many generations, this endosymbiotic relationship would have evolved into one of absolute necessity where you end up with a eukaryotic cell with complex organelles like chloroplasts and mitochondria.   3. this is a pretty common basic theory

    it derives from larger cells phagocitising another, forming an organelle ..etc..

    another way is that one cell relied on another so much that it grew around it

    one main piece of evidence for this is that mitochondria have their own genome

  4. the theory is that the larger bacteria engulfed the smaller ones and rather than digesting them they were somehow turned into organelles. but the theory isn't widely accepted in science
