for fractions i find it easiest to divide smallest number possible,in this case 3

so 36/81  would be 12/27

now to go smaller again divide each number by 3,

so 12/27 we got from first is 4/9

so the answer is 4/9

the entire idea is to divide each number by a number they both go into,you could have just as easyly divided 36/81 by 9 and got the same result.Ask me how to spell and I'd be in trouble though.

I always start with 2,then 3 then 4,so on and so forth until i find a number that can be evenly divided into both numbers.Then if needed repeat the proccess untill there are no longer any numbers that can be divided into both.
