  1. You remove the thermostat cover, take out the thermostat, replace the cover, and then wonder why your engine runs rough, and uses more fuel!

The thermostat is there for a reason. The engine was designed to run best at a certain and constant temperature. Fuel will atomize better, plugs will last longer, and power is best if run as designed.

  2. No reason to remove the thermostat, take an air hose and blow air into the tell tale hose. They get plugged up all the time. Running the engine without the thermostat will sooner later damage the engine.

  3. Your information is incomplete.  The thermostat controls power head cooling.  The "bypass" water relief has no control over the water pump.  They are notorious for getting plugged.  In fact most of the water is exhausted through the prop.  If the lower unit water pump is operating properly the engine will operate at it's best.  Check for sand or silt blockages.

  4. you dont want to do that

change the thermostat   i didnt know that 25 hp had one

it should be towards the top buy the plugs and a hose going to it  the themomstats are much smaller than a cars  so look for something small
