Please help me with my relationship with my mom?

Please help me! I've been raised by a single mom for all 16 years of my life. I see all my friends with their moms and they joke, laugh, talk about boys, and act like they're best friends. However with me, I can't talk to my mom about any of that stuff. I feel like she won't understand. I want to have a "friendly" relationship with my mom where I want to hang out with her on weekends, but I feel like I never will. I want nothing more than to talk to her and have fun with her. We get into huge fights over stupid things and I always feel bad; I'm always the one who apologizes for things not only I take part in.

How can I fix this relationship with my mom and how can we become friends???

  1. I think that talking to her and being honest is definitely the way to go.  she may have absolutely no idea that you feel this way unless you tell her exactly what you've said here.  Just let her know that you want to have a better relationship with her and don't be afraid to be honest.  She may be feeling exactly the same way, but doesn't know how to approach you about it.  Good luck!

  2. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF JUST WALKING UP TO YOUR MOM AND SAYING " MOM, HAVE I EVER TOLD YOU THAT I LOVE YOU AND APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU DO FOR ME." YOU WOULD BE SURPRIZED AT WHAT THAT LITTLE FRAZE WOULD DO TO HER. IT WILL STAY WITH HERE FOR A WHILE. AND SHE WILL EXAMINE YOU ALLS RELATIONSHIP. MY MOM AND I WERE NOT CLOSE FOR THE MOST PART OF MY LIFE. ONE DAY I WAS JUST SITTING THERE LISTENING TO HER VENT AND WHEN SHE FINISHED I ASKED HER THAT QUESTION. SHE WALKED OVER TO ME, HELD ME AND CRIED. WE THEN BECAME CLOSE.

  3. You need to tell her just what you wrote...be open and honest and tell her that you want it to be like that. I would think that she would be happy that you are approaching her about it and not distancing yourself instead.

  4. Sometimes daughters think that mothers wouldn't understand when we do and was young as you all out there are today. We know more then what we act or say and we are always there and so is your mother. You should only want such fun with your mom from your own heart, not cause your friends does with theirs. Also, you need to look at your mom's responsibilities and be as much helpful to her as you want her to be to you. It goes both ways and it also takes two in wanting to hang out together. Try talking again to her in more of a respectful way and see what reply you get. hang in there moms knows what is best always. That is why we are called the great grandma's. God be with you both.
