i want a destination wedding more than anything. it's what i've always wanted. i heard it was cheaper than a traditional wedding (not the reason i'm having one, it's just a plus). when i finally find a decently priced package, the airfare is over $1,000! plus since my parents are giving us money as our gift to plan our wedding with, i felt that we should pay their way as well. does anyone have any tips, comments, suggestions. it would be greatly appreciated!

i'm concerned about my budget b/c when i return from my honeymoon, i'm having a large reception with all our friends and family.

  1. Why not Las Vegas?  My fiancee and I are getting married in Las Vegas next year.  You can't beat the deals for hotel and airfare.  PLUS, you can invite anyone you want to come!  If they can't make it, have them join you at the reception.  You can get married in Vegas for CHEAP and have fun while you're there too!

Another idea is Sandals resorts.  They have really great deals as well and wedding packages at rediculously cheap prices.  Hope that helps!

  2. There's nothing less expensive about a destination wedding!  Maybe the attire will be a little cheaper, but that's about it.  And realize that you won't get many guests other than family and very close friends.  If you can afford a destination wedding, great, but it's certainly no cheaper than one at home.

  3. Try Sandals.. They have really good packages.

  4. I have always thought of destination weddings as more expensive, but fun! You don't mention where you're thinking about going, but Hawaii is beautiful and affordable, especially if you go in the off-season, as opposed to the peak summer/holidays. You also don't mention if you are looking to have other guests there, or just your parents. I'm assuming others, but a rather small, intimate crowd? Anyway, these are things you'll have to decide on. Also, I recommend that you find an affordable version of the big reception, which could free up more $$$ to spend on the destination wedding.

  5. In response to when you answered my question about my three weddings they are all on the exact same day in the same city. they are all at the same time except  one starts an hour earlier then the other two.
