  1. To make all explanations short. Downstream is like downloading. the information is traveling from internet to your computer, such as opening e-mail message, and upstream means your sending information from your computer to the internet. You send e-mail message with a large picture attachment.

Board band refers to a communication technique used for transmitting multiple simultaneous data channels. Broadband routers support DSL or cable modem internet connection sharing, firewall, VPN and home networking. Cable - faster speed, runs on a coaxial cable, which has higher bandwidth carrying more data at the same time.

DSL is a phone line wire less expensive monthly .

Cable drop is a portion of a cable system that connects individual subscribers to the cable system. it begins at a connection point on the cable tap and ends at the subscriber's television.

Sonet is abbreviated word - Synchronous Optical Networking. it's a standard for connecting fiber-optic transmission system. Outside of US, people call it as SDH, Synchronous Digital Hierarch. But Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) is a second generation cable TV, which its networks combine  both optical fiber and coaxial cable lines.

    Hope this will help..Good luck
