Hi, I am a high school junior and I was hoping someone could help me with this experiment that we have to do for my biology 2 class.

So there's a bucket of ice and we have to submerge a plastic cup filled with water inside the ice bucket. The object of the lab is to somehow have the temperature of the water at 37 degrees celsius (internal body temperature)

we can bring our own materials (the only restrictions being anything that has to be lit and anything electrical) and we can put things in the water or put the cup inside something.

-the water also has to remain at 27 degrees celsius for about 30 minutes.

Any answer is greatly appreciated because i couldnt be any more clueless about how to accomplish this!! =]

  1. Well, first get a well insulated cup, like the coffee cups used in calorimetry. I think the easiest way to keep the temperature high is to continually add strong acid to the water, acid and water have an exothermic reaction, which releases lots of heat into the water. I am not sure how to exactly calculate how to keep the temperature at exactly 37, but that should give you a good start to try to keep it at least warm.
