Question:

Please help me - worried about pregnancy?

Okay...I know this may be a weird question to answer (and it is kind of weird for me to ask on Y!A) but I really need help.

I slept with my boyfriend for the first time last night and we did use a condom. It did not tear or anything but I am just really paranoid. What are the chances of becoming pregnant? I was not on any birth control because it takes a month to work...but I really wish I had waited. I was feeling a bit of pressure though so I don't know what to do. I am 17 years old by the way.

To buy a pregnancy test, should I just go to a store like CVS? Maybe I am just overreacting but I just wanted opinions. Also, I was reading about how pregnant women sometimes do get their period so I guess if I get my period in about 3 weeks from now that is not a sure way of knowing that I am not pregnant?

I know that is a lot questions but I really would appreciate the help.

Thanks so much.

  1. If you used the condom correctly your about 99% safe. A pregnancy test won't work until your period id late.

  2. You'll be fine, trust me. But don't do something just because you feel pressured

  3. More than likely you're fine if you used the condom correctly. Dont stress yourself out so much.. theres no way of telling your pregnant until a few weeks from now anyway.. about 3-5 days before your expected period date take a pregnancy test. and yes you can get them at cvs or any other drug store or walmart. I like first response the best. As far as women still getting their period while pregnant: usually the bleeding will be light and its from the embryo implanting itself on to the uterine wall and the menstration will usually be irregular. But like i said dont worry so much about it if you used protection.. its very rare to get pregnant when using a condom that didnt tear.. but if you think you need reassurance then you can go to a local pharmacy and ask about the Plan B pill aka The Morning After pill... you have 72 hours to take it after s*x. I work in a pharmacy and we dont require a prescription but you do have to be over 16 but some states may be different.. it doesnt hurt to ask (call if you're embarrassed to go in person) OR you can go to one of those free pregnancy testing places and have a blood test done for quicker results. GOOD LUCK!

  4. You are most likely not pregnant. There is a VERY small chance, but it's close to impossible if you used a condom and it didn't break. If you wanted to buy a test, you could just go to CVS or even the supermarket, but it wouldn't work until your period was due. Also, you could only get pregnant if you're ovulating (your body is releasing an egg), and you ovulate 2 weeks before you get your period. So if your period is due in 3 weeks, you probably wouldn't be ovulating for another week anyway. As far as having your period when you're pregnant, it can happen but it's very rare. And by then you would most likely feel pregnant - morning sickness, feeling tired, possibly eating more than usual, so you'd know anyway. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Good luck!

  5. Well condoms are what 95-98% effective if used correctly? Or something like that. So if you used them right then there maybe around a 2% chance of you being pregnant. People getting their periods while pregnant is very rare so usually that is still a sign you aren't pregnant. Also a lot of the women who do get their periods even when they are pregnant notice a chance in their flow and cycle and everything, they basically have irregular periods. you need to stop stressing now. Chances are slim that you are pregnant but if you keep stressing you can end up skipping your period and make yourself even more stressed. i would say if you don't get it in about a month then take a test.

  6. u used a condom so there is no reasonn why u should be pregnant, but if ur still in doubt just go to a drug store and buy a pregnancy test, also tell ur boyfriend he has to support u at this time, good luck=]
