hai guys Iam back after a hiatus.I live in kodungaiyur(chennai),I have been recently altering my own building with shops that was built in1990, and there is a parcel of my own land adjacent to the shops. My house stands on the corner plot where three 20ft roads meet. Now as I intended to safeguard my land with a compound wall, the local councillor, her husband and some guys in my nighbourhood are objecting it.They are ordering me to leave my land(it is not a road now) as a road, without offering any compensation. Now they have come with the chennai corporation division 1 AE and he is threatening to demolish my shops if I don't leave my land as road.Is there any right for them to order me like this. What shall I do

  1. I dont know what you are, temperamentally. If you have the nerve, take him on in an eye ball to eye ball confrontation. If he is weak, he will blink.

Or approach a politician from an opposition camp. Here again it is risky. These guys, whichever camp they belong to,  are all in the same business of protection money. They divide their areas of operation, each one respecting the other's.

Police wont be helpful either. Police and politicians need each other. Unless you know some senior spirited police officer like the present Commissioner of Police Mr Nanjil ...... someone, it wont be of much use.

One safe option would be for you to attempt to file a police complaint at a Police station for tresspass. I am sure you will not succeed. Then, after this you may appear before a judicial magistrate in the open court and present a petition stating the threats you are facing, the legality of your property papers, and seek a direction that the Police should give you protection and register an FIR and investigate. You dont even need a lawyer to present your case. They are sharks.

I presume you really own it. If not, the Politician is right.

  2. Govt has the rights to capture ur property by paying some compensation, Provided if any necessary development activities are planned.

I think in ur case the politician opposes u bcoz to get some 'benefits'. U have 3 options.

    1) Go to an advocate

    2) Complain to ur local police, if they disagree with u only u can go to Chennai Police commissioner.

    3) Go for help with local opposition party politician.

    All the best !

  3. If u hv the documents of your land in your hands ,pl check it properly with a notary that if there is any problem, if the documents are clear then u can fight for it legally .Do not come under any political pressure & if need be u can take this issue to some reporters of genuine daily newspaper or some magazine
