My one year old son...started this thing about a month ago..where he walks around shaking his head....at first I thought maybe he was learning "NO" or he was taking a shiver...now he does it all the time...and its kinda like he takes a shiver or maybe he has something stuck in his ear he just cant get out....I've checked both his ears..and theres nothing in them....he can be playing, watching tv, or anything and he'll just hang his head down to the side and shake it...it seems to be more and more here lately and i'm starting to get worried....has anyone else experienced this...or know what it may be....should I worry....please help thanks!!!

  1. Maybe you should call your pediatrician..maybe it is something inside the ear that you can't see...

    Good luck.

    Kels.

  2. My son did that around that same age.  He's almost 21 months now, and doesn't do it anymore. (Unless he really is saying no, which seems to be a lot these days.  lol) I freaked too, so I understand. I took him to the dr, and they said it was behavioral.  He had learned something, and he was doing it.

Having said that, you never know if he has an ear infection or something like that, so I'd get him checked out when the dr opens tomorrow, just to be sure.  In the meantime, though, try to relax.  I'm sure he's fine.

  3. When this is happening does any other part of his body shake, is he coherant - if you talk to him will he stop and look up at you?

My son used to enjoy  hitting his head on yours when he was one years old.

  4. It could be an ear infection. Take him in to the doctor and have it checked out. It could also just be a phase.

  5. At that age, kids do strange things like that...my son went through a phase at about that time where he'd roll his eyes. It was kinda scary looking, but one day, he just stopped doing it. I'm sure it has to do with some kind of learning process...or possibly his ears are bothering him, like the other ladies said.

Take him to the doctor and express your concerns. Let them check his ears, and then when you're done there I'm sure you'll feel a lot better. :)

    Good luck

  6. my daughter did that when she was a baby, there may be water in it from swimming or the bath? ? if not.. it may be a ear infection, and if Not it may be a dance move =] my 1 year old daughter has some crazy dance moves lol
