  1. Yes. Minimum age for commercial pilot is 18.

Maximum age for airline pilot is 65.

  2. as long as you pass your medical anyone can attain a commercial pilots license.

35 years is also fine if you want to find work as a commercial pilot, it's never too late =) (within reason)

  3. Yes, you can take the training, and get the license, but jobs

will go to those with 'hours', and you'll be behind all the others

    in your age group.

  4. The chance of getting all the ratings then building the flight experience to be hired by a MAJOR airline before he / she is too old to be considered is a lot lower than if someone started flying in their 20's. It's possible, but a lot harder. The airlines do hire older pilots, but the "rule-of-thumb" cutoff age is around 40 or so. On average, if an applicant holds a 4 year college degree (preferred but not required), it takes 5 - 10 years of work experience as a pilot to become qualified to compete for a job with the big, good-paying airlines, so starting at 35 years old does not allow much time to achieve that goal. However, there are lots of lower paying jobs flying smaller planes though, so in that regard your friend has a very good chance at a decent paying flying career that he / she might enjoy. By the way, all flying jobs that you get paid for are considered "commercial" pilot jobs, whether it is flying a 2-seat trainer as a flight instructor, or a 300-seat Boeing as a captain.

  5. You pay for your own schooling.  As long as you pay, there's nothing stopping from becoming a pilot.

But that does NOT mean that you will be hired when you get your license.  Many pilots don't get a job for a long time after obtaining their license.

    good luck...
