  1. It's not impossible, there are 365 days a year.

However, that's neither here nore there. The days in school are a minimum, not a maximum, and there is not maximum on how many hours you work or how many topics you study at once. Truthfully, it only takes a few hours a day to follow a public school curriculum, and it would be quite easy to do more.

  2. The number of days required has no bearing on what or how much you study during those days. You can do 2 or 3 grades of math or any other subject during your required school days and finish early. Homeschoolers usually accomplish much more during their school days because they do not have to spend time waiting in lines, switching classes, waiting for their turn in class, mandated group bathroom breaks or lunch period and all of the other mandated public school things. Even some really smart public schoolers manage to complete extra credits or subjects during school days....of course homeschoolers can complete more than one level in required subjects during the same amount of school days.

  3. what's wrong with 340 days out of the year?!  You go to med school and get on a research program you are there all year, even the the semester formally ends!

In real life there is no summer vacation.  You get 1 week the first year and 5 - 10 holidays.  You want 4 weeks you have to work for the same company 15+ years!

  4. It's not so many days per GRADE, it's so many days per YEAR. If you are actually capable of doing 2 grades in one, then you'd simply look like you'd skipped a grade at the end of the year, not that you didn't get in your mandatory 175 days.

  5. www.hslda.org/  would be a good site to visit.

It looks like Alabama requires that you either be in a church school or have a private tutor.

The church school has no specified attendance.

The tutor option requires 140 days per year, 3 hours a day, between 8 AM and 4 PM (lol).  Your tutor has to be a certified teacher, apparently.

Public schools have to do 175 days a year.

They list the subjects required, and your attendance and work has to be tracked by your tutor.  A statement has to be filed with the local superintendant.

    Hope that helps!
