I'm a female, college student & I suffer from anxiety, depression, and mild OCD. I'm on meds & go to therapy. However, school starts on Mon. & the closer school gets, the more tired I get. I've been having nightmares about various things. Also, I don't have any friends but I don't want any. The work load scares me every semester. How can I handle procrastination & my other probs? Thanks!!!

  1. Hi ME,

I am a Reference Librarian.  It will take me a few minutes to research your question.

First thing I recommend that you do, is to ask your counselor,  or psychologist for information on a local support group, or try the website below.  Also try a support group at your school.

Second thing I suggest is to work with your counselor or psychologist on a list of things you can do to keep you from feeling overwhelmed, and your stress levels down.

One thing you might try is yoga, martial arts, or some other exercise that includes some meditation.

Another thing you might try is an timeline action plan for major papers or projects.  This way you don't feel constantly stressed that you are doing too much, or not enough.

I have included a website with advice time management for school.

Have faith, many students have expressed issues of depression and stress during their college years.

    Good Luck!

    K

  2. Your best bet is to set up a schedule. Get up at a certain time, go to bed at a certain time, and plan to start your homework at roughly the same time every night. That's where having OCD could be helpful. Once you get on a set schedule you find it hard to deviate,  that's how I over came my procrastination.
