  1. C = 3K + 10

    C - 20 = 2(K + 20)

    3K + 10 - 20 = 2(K + 20)

    3K = 2(K + 20) + 10

    3K = 2K + 50

    1K = 50

    Kathy started with K = $50

    Carmen started with (3K + 10) = $160

  2. Carmen began with 160

    Kathey with 50

    160-10=150/3=50+20=70x2=140

  3. I'm not super good with math but here goes.  Kathy started with 50 and Carmen started with 160.  This is illustrated by two equations.  Sorry for the mistake earlier

    C = 3K + 10.

    2K = C - 20.

    3K + 10 - 20 = 2(K + 20).

    3K -10 = 2K + 40.

    K = 50

    K = 50.  Kathy has 50 dollars.

    Carmen had 10 + 3*50 which is 160

  4. Do your own homework >:( lol j/k But whats with the ? do we look like 12 year olds?

  5. C = 3(K) + 10

    C - 20 = 2(K)

    3K + 10 - 20 = 2K

    K = $10

    C = $40

  6. Start by saying that Kathy had x.

    How much did Carmen have? She had 10 more than 3 times x, which is 10 + 3x.

    SHe then gave Kathy 20. How much did she now have?

    How much did Kathy have. And we know that the amount Carmen had was twice what Kathy had.

    See can you work it out from that.

  7. (10 + 3k) - 20 = 2(k + 20) where c is carmen and k is kathy

    3k - 10 = 2k +40

    k = 50

    c = 10 + 3(50)

    160 - 20 = 2(50 + 20)

    so, carmen started with 160 and kathy with 50

  8. I think carmen had 70.00 and gave kathy 20.00 each girl began with 25.00

    Hope this helped

    carmen

    20

    20

    20= 60.00 + 10.00 more= 70.00-20.00 given to kathy leaves 50.00

    2/50=25.00

  9. C = 10 + 3 K

    C - 20 = 2 (K + 20)

    therefore C = 2 K + 60 = 10 + 3 K

    Subtract 2 K + 10

    50 = K

    Therefore C = 160

  10. Amount Carmen had should be X and Kathy had can be Y

    So if Carmen had $10 more than 3 times as much money as Kathy.

    the equation is X = 3Y + 10

    After giving Kathy $20, Carmen's amount is exactly twice Kathy's, the equation is X - 20 = 2Y

    ie. X  = 2Y + 20

    2Y + 20 = 3Y + 10

    Y = 10

    if Y = 10 then X = 40

  11. If it's so easy, you can do it yourself.

  12. C = 3K + 10

    C - 20 = 2(K+20)

    so C = 2K +60

    so 3K +10 = 2K +60

    so K =50

    C = 160

    so originally, Carmen had $160, Kathy had $50

  13. let kathy be x

    carmen = 3x+10

    after giving

    3x+10-20=2(x+20)

    3x-10=2x+40

    x=50

    kathy = 50

    carmen=160
