Please help!!! sick guppies

please tell me what i have to do to save my guppies. every couple days i find there is a new dead fish in my tank and i do plenty of water changes. at first there was ich in the tank but i finishhed treating the ich about 2 days ago. one very special guppy to me has been really sick. i dont know what it is. i really wanna save him and he isnt eating and before he couldnt really swim and uncontrollably he would flip around and flip on his side and then he would try to get himself back to normal. he couldnt control his swimming. this was all today. i expected him to be dead later on in the day but his swimming got better and he doesnt really flip on his side anymore. what can i buy to save him?? what medicine?? please help me i really dont want him to die cause hes very special and my heart has been broken from all the dead fish lately. also today i found one of the first guppies that i got dead and he didint die of old age. he was fine yesterday and today he was dead. what is going on please help me and save my guppies please

  1. i don't know if i'm to late... i'm really sorry about your guppies. i'm not an expert, but you mentioned that you do plenty of water changes. do you use tap water? because if you do, it is possible there are too many minerals in the water...try using bottled water in the tank. i don't know if this will help, i really hope it does.

Check your tap water for ammonia and nitrite-- these are very toxic to fish, and are fairly common in tap water.  Also, contact your water company and ask for a print out of the chemicals in the tap water in their respective concentrations (preferably parts per million AKA mg/L), as many municipalities add metals (copper, iron, lead) or nitrogen compounds (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, chloramine) that can kill fish.  Using a dechlorinator like Amquel+ or Prime that neutralize heavy metals, chlorine, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate would be a very good idea, as this will protect the fish while not interfering with the biofilter.
