  1. its 0/6

  2. find the LCM ( lowest common multiple of the two dinominators)

in this case, it would be 48

so for 1/6 multiply top and bottom by 8

and for 7/8 multiply top and bottom by 6

then add the numerators, the denomonator stays the same

    simplify

  3. first you gotta find your common denominator which in this case is 24, because that's the lowest number that 6 and 8 will both go into. which now gives you 6/24+ 21/24 which equals 27/24 which is then broken down to 1 3/24 which then breaks down to 1 1/8.

  4. if you punched it in to the calculator you would get a 1.04 as simplified or rounded to the nearest hundreth. now on actually solving it by hand. i don't know how else to solve it but by calculator, sorry. just type in 1/6 on a calculator and add that to 7/8. it is just like dividing those two and adding them their sum together. just to let you know, you will have several numbers after 1.04. hope this helps!

ps same goes to subtracting it but subtract 1/6 from 7/8

  5. if your as old as you should be to be doing these problems, get off the computer and look in the math book.

  6. u need to have a common denominator

haha im still in summer GO Canada

  7. To add decimal numbers:

Put the numbers in a vertical column aligning the decimal points.

Add each column of digits, starting on the right and working left. If the sum of a column is more than 10, "carry" digits to the next column on the left.

Place the decimal point in the answer directly below the decimal points in the terms.

    To subtract decimal numbers:

Put the numbers in a vertical column aligning the decimal points.

Subtract each column, starting on the right and working left. If the top number is smaller than the bottom number, borrow from the top number at the left.

Place the decimal point in the answer directly below the decimal points in the terms.

    Check the answer by adding.

  8. well first you need to find a common denominator ..which is 24..so 1/6 is now 1/24 and 7/8 is now 7/24 now find how you got 6 into 24..by multiplying 4 so now 1/6 is 4/24 ....

nvm..i might confuse you but the answer is 21/24

  9. Get the common denominator:  in your case of 6 and 8... that is 24.   Then divide the the common denominator with the denominator of the first member (6) and multiply by the numerator (1)  the result 4 is the first term for the substraction, do the same with 7/8 then you have the second member of the substraction, that is (4-21)/24.   hahahahaha...

  10. to solve those types of math problems you need to find a common denominator. For example a number that both 6 and 8 go into is 24. You then need to change the numerators to correspond with the change in the denominatior. For example: to change the 6 to 24 you needed to multiply by 4. So you will also need to multiply the 1 by 4. which will give you 4/24. Same with the 8. To change the 8 to 24 you multiplied by 3. So you will also need to multiply the 7 by 3 which will give you 21/24. Then all you need to do is add the numerators 4 and 21. The denominators will stay the same. Which will give you 25/24 or 1 1/24. Hope that helps.

  11. its been a while since i last did this but... i think...

you have to find a common denominator- this is a number that divides into both 6 and 8

here, for instance, it could be 24

so for this question, 1/6 would become 4/24

    and 7/8 would become 21/24

    so 4/24 + 21/24 = 25/24

    so 1 and 1/24

  12. look for a Least Common Multiple for the two denominators.

6 and 8 are your two denominators in this problem. so think of their multiples.

    for 6, it's 12, 18, 24, 30, 36...

    for 8, it's 8, 16, 24, 32...

as you can see 24 is common in both.

so, you then convert 1/6 to ?/24  and 7/8 to ?/24

to get from 6 to 24, you had to multiply 6 by 4 giving you 24.

what you do to the bottom you must do to the top, so multiplying 1 by 4 gives you 4 on top and 24 on the bottom, you have 4/24

    repeat with 7/8 you'll get 21/24

now you can add since you have two fractions with the same denominator :)

    4/24 + 21/24 = 25/24

if you want to change that from an improper fraction (since the numerator is greater than the denominator)

    you'll get 1 and 1/24

I hope this helps. I would suggest having someone personally show you, like a teacher, tutor, or maybe a parent or sibling..so you can really get the hang of it!

  13. multiply each by the others denominator.

    1/6*8/8  and 7/8*6/6=

8/56+42/56  add the tops and simplify

  14. ok first, you have to get the LCD of both of these fractions. Therefore since 6 and 8 are the denominators, the LCD is 24...so 1/6 will become 4/24 and 7/8 will become 25/24 Thus, it's  4/24 + 21/24= 25/24 so the answer can be 1 and 1/24 or 25/24

(if it doesnt require to simplify)

  15. you can ask your parent or teacher .

  16. get the least common denominator first of 6 and 8

    which is 24

    then divide 24 and 6 times 1 =3

oh the answer is 24/24 which is 1.

  17. tell you teacher you need help, you are not understanding it...  cheating is not goign to help you learn it.

  18. You need to get like denominators. in this case the first multiple the 6 and 8 match on is 24. whatever you do to the top number you do to the bottom.

    6 x 4 =24 and so take the 1 x 4= 4 so first number is 4/24

    8 x 3= 24 and so take the 7 x 3= 21 so second number is 21/24

add the two numerators. 4 + 21= 25 and denumerator stays the same.

answer is 25/24 which can also be 1 1/24

  19. multiply the 1/6 by 4 and the 1/8 by 3

    4/24 + 3/24= 7/24... simplify if possible(not possible here)

  20. BEDMAS, or order of operations, is a simple way to remember which steps you should do first, second, third, when you are solving a math problem.

    InstrumentsB-brackets

    E-exponents

    D-division

    M-multiplication

    A-addition

    S-subtraction

  21. those aren't decimals... they're fractions

  22. 7/48

    7/24

It's pretty easy.  Just multiply 6x8 or find a number both go into.  Then the numerator stays the same.  And if the denominators are the same number than leave it man.

    Called the LCD

  23. When the denominators are different, we have to make an adjustment, as we can only add two or more fractions if all have the same denominator. If we want to add 2/3 plus 1/2 we have to first find a common denominator that both can use. A common denominator is a number that can be evenly divided by the denominators of both fractions. Sixty is a number that can be evenly divided by both denominators, however, it is better to find the smallest number that can be evenly divided by each. This is called the least common denominator. In this case, 6 is a number that can be evenly divided by both 3 and 2. Since there is no smaller number that can be divided evenly by both 3 and 2, 6 is the least common denominator.

The rule here is to divide the least common denominator by each denominator and then multiply that denominator's numerator by the result. For instance, with 6 as the new common denominator, we divide 6 by the 3 in 2/3 and get 2 as the result. Then multiply the numerator of 2 in 2/3 by the result, 2 to get 4/6 as the new fraction. Doing the same with 1/2 we divide 6 by the denominator 2 to get a result of 3 and then multiply the 1 in 1/2 by the result of 3 to get 3/6 as the new fraction.

We now have two fractions with the same denominator of 6, so we add them as follows:

    4/6 + 3/6 = 7/6

  24. Find a common denominator that they both go into (24 here.) since you mulitiply 6 by 4 to get 24 and 8 by 3, you multiply the top number or 6 by 4 and 8 by 3.  you'll get 4/24+21/24

then you add to get 25/24, then you simplify.

    Answer: 1 1/24

  25. find a common denominator (bottom of the fraction).

So with 1/6 + 7/8 you need to find a number that is common to the 6 and the 8. Best to go with 24. So you turn 1/6 into 4/24 and turn 7/8 into 21/24. So now you add 4/24 and 21/24 and you end up with 25/24 or 1 and 1/24.

  26. find the lcm of the denominators and change the fractions.

    the lcm of 6 & 8 is 24. so the fractions are: 4/24 + 21/24 = 25/24 = 1 1/24.

    get it?

  27. You need to find a common denominator, which would be 24. 4/24 + 21/24.  It will equal 1 and 1/24.  does that make sense?
