Please help the first-timer with an RB question?

Question

I've never done fantasy football before, and I biffed it in the draft, at least with regard to running backs. it's a 12-team standard head to head. I have

QB Tom Brady, Kurt Warner

RB Brandon Jacobs, Willie Parker, Justin Fargas, Jonathan Stewart

WR Reggie Wayne, TJ Houshmanzahdeh, Joey Galloway, Justin Gage, David Patten

TE Kellen Winslow

DEF Giants. Eagles

K Josh Scobee

I think it's a decent team, but the RBs worry me. SO:

should I stand pat? Should I trade a big WR or even Brady for a top back? Or should I look to the waiver wire? People like Ahman Green, Ray Rice, Chris Johnson and Chris Perry are still out there. Thanks for any advice.

Try to find a trade that works for both of you.  The only way I would consider putting Brady on the block is if I were to get another QB who has a decent offense to work with who is the guaranteed starter for the entire year.  If you lose Brady, then that leaves you with Warner, who almost certainly will be put on the bench some time in the year as soon as the offense goes south, to give Leinart the opportunity to prove he deserves the starting role.  Try to make a 2 player for 2 player deal (QB & RB) where you lose a little on QB (e.g. Romo or Derek Anderson), but gain a little more on RB (e.g., Ryan Grant or even Earnest Graham).  If you find someone really hurting at QB, try trading Warner for a slighter lesser QB in a similar deal.  You'll end up even better off because you keep the best QB and improve at RB.

Great draft. Dont let your running backs worry you too much. Brandon Jacobs was on pace to reach 1700 yards and double digit TDs last year and willie parker is always a stud. But as for backups i think you did decent but look for willies mcgahee knee to bring him down and Ray Rice will get the start, this is where you will have to pick him up. He is gonna be huge for Baltimore if he goes down. Chris Johnson has tremendous upside and you should watch for him as will. Jonathan stewart is a bit of a reach bc he isnt getting the offense down and Fox said he wont be seeing much playing time until he knows the system. hope this helps. well you have a problem because jacobs is my third rb in my 10 team league.  you are strong at QB and receiver beacause in my opinion you have 2 of the top 10 receivers in housh and wayne.  if I were you i would drop one of your defenses and try and protect yourself.  depending on who's available in the free agents i'm look at rashard mendenhall who is the backup to parker. parker is known for being injured and in that system mendenhall will be looking at 10-15 carries a game anyway.  also maybe grab chester taylor.  if adrian peterson goes down for the season (he is a injury concern)  then taylor is easily a 1300 yard back with 12 tds.  again i'm assuming free agency is pretty limited but overall your team isn't horrible just a little weak at runningback.  kurt warner is not a guarantee to be the starter all year so if you could trade brady for a guy like joseph addai or stephen jackson i would do that if you could package it to get a decent starting QB.

pick up Perry he is going to get the majority of the carries in CIN where the passing attack spreads the DEF and gives him more room and options other than that this team is not blowing anyone away in any one position but you have alot of balance which will help you have a consistent season

for a first time draft and not going with a RB in the first 2 rounds you didnt do that bad good luck

I would take Chris Johnson.  In my opinion, he has the best big play potential of the options you presented.  The problem with Johnson, though, is that he will be splitting time with Lendale White.  Given Jeff Fisher's coaching style, I wouldn't doubt that White will continue to be the #1 RB.
