  1. Don't think about you and your partner, think about the child. Ask yourself if the person will be happy with the name you have planted on them for life.

Think about nicknames they will have at school and how they will cope with the name when they, eventually, go out into the big wide world.

If I had been at school with a kid called Oakley the nickname would have been anything from treeboy to acorn. Think about it.

  2. Real names like Coral and Lily are great. Its made up names like Oakley that sound like strippers names.

Oh and just so you know, Ashley and Aubrey were originally boys names as are most ley names. Look it up.

  3. Oakley is a boy's name.  It think it's a pretty nice name actually, just not for a girl.  A name being feminine doesn't mean it isn't strong or ununique

These may be too old fashioned for your taste but...:

    Helen

    Ingrid

    Rosamond

    Abigail

    Frances

Those are just some I know... I'm sure ppl on here can find more.

  4. depending on the surname i think that name is really nice for a girl

  5. it sounds like oak tree

    but i like it

  6. Oakley is a boy's name, if anything.

    I don't like it for either s*x.

  7. don't do this to your baby. She would suffer at school for that weired name.

and, Ashley is a boy's name.

  8. I prsonally dont like it

  9. It's not my cup of tea, but it's not awful.  It makes me think of:

    1.  Annie Oakley, the cowgirl;

    2.  Oak trees

    3.  Oakley sunglasses

The first two are positive associations; the third is a little weird.

If you do use Oakley in the first spot, I'd pair it with a classic and feminine choice in the middle - Oakley Marie, Oakley Grace, Oakley Elisabeth.  It gives the unusual first name some balance.

    Best wishes!

  10. pretty :) It should be a guys name though

  11. I don`t see why honorable names like Lily or Coral would be stripper names and a weird selfinvented name like Oakley isn`t???

I think giving kids real names or a so called "oldfashioned" name is a sign of being sophisticated while most made up names are just weird, make kids the bottoms of jokes or simply sound cheap..

  12. lily and coral are not stripper names. That is insulting due to the fact some of my close relatives are named lily! anyway i think the name "Oakley" sound like a stripper name more than lily or coral. but besides that out of 1-10 i would rate it a 3 1/2

  13. it's good if you are ok with the fact that she will be a walking billboard for Oakley Sunglasses. lol

thats the first thing I think of when I hear that name.

You may not care about that, but the reality is that the majority of people are thinking along these same lines. Think about your child going to school and getting teased about it.

there are a lot of male names that end in Y. Jerry, Larry, Danny, Johnny, etc.

Ashley, aubrey, kerry, are all unisex names.

  14. Personally, I don't really like it...I mean it's alright but I wouldn't pick it.

  15. Honestly, it sounds like a pets name.  What do you really like about Oakley?

    Ideas for a first name?

    Opal

    Oriana

    Maya

    Kaya

If you want something different than Micayla or Skye or Ava, try asking friends and relatives about older names, or something.

  16. I don`t think it`s pretty to name a girl after an oak..what about Coral, Freesia, Lily or Iris if you like names that relate to nature?

  17. No I do not like that name. I like Gabriella instead. GGR Gabriella Grace Reynolds.

  18. I don't quite that name. But Natalie, and Amelia, are really cute names, of course if you don't like girly names there's always, Alexandra, and call her Alex, because that can be a girl, or a boys name and it's adorable!

    Good luck!

  19. I don't like it, too masculine.

Also Ashley and Aubrey are MALE names but you are probably too young to know that. Look it up if you don't believe me
