  1. Sorry to hear about your friend, maybe he can go on disability, I think his employer contributes to company health insurance.

  2. You didn't mention what state he was in? Many states have a victims

advocate, have him check with with the District attorney's office. Also sue the assailant if he has any assets.

  3. yeah, sue'.yeah, yeah,  sue, sue! All I ever hear is how "sue happy" America is! The dude is in jail! obviously being brought up on charges. Workmans comp should be enough for this incident... jeesh! rub some mud on it ... soak it "in cider" and  get back to work!

  4. The assailant "came running out of a house." If the assailant OWNS the house, there's a pretty good chance that your friend will own the house in the near future.

Tell him to contact a personal injury lawyer, and ask for a contingency arrangement. That means that your friend doesn't pay unless the lawyer recovers.

However, if the assailant is a deadbeat and a renter, the "blood from a turnip" rule applies. In that case, your friend should contact the police and press charges. He may get some money from the state's victim compensation fund. And he'll probably savor serving as a witness in the jackass's trial.

  5. If he works for the Cable co. and he was on the job, he qualifies for workmans comp. medical and wages. He may also get temp. social security benefits called SSI, if he needs that. You would have to contact your local state agencies to find out if there is a fund for victims, some states have it, others don't.

  6. He could probably sue him...

  7.   the co. that he worked for is supposed to have insurance for this type of incident.

  8. He needs to find a lawyer and file a civil lawsuit on the attacker for the amount of the medical damages and for the day's wage(s) he missed at his job.  It won't be very hard to win in that situation.

  9. He should be covered by the cable companies worker's compensation, unless he is a private contractor, then, he can try to get money from the perpetrator, but if the guy didn't have money to pay his cable bill.....chances are....he will be trying to get blood from a turnip.

  10. You're friend can file for a civil suit (He can sue him) However, he must take into account (before suing) what he did to cause this to happen. But i would suggest you sue him.

  11. I don't know why he would have to miss more then a week for that. I was in a bad motorcycle wreck and only took 4 days off. And his work i am sure will give him workers comp.

Well that is if he signed up for it.

  12. He was injured on the job that should be covered by insurance and L&I

  13. He should have coverage through the cable company that he was working for. And should have paid sick leave for an on-site accident like the one you described.
