  1. For the subject I would choose things like sociology, psychology, English literature, any "high" math courses...kind of depends on what field of criminology you are looking at getting into...however, no matter what field you choose it will never be for the salary.  This is a true calling that will, on some levels, consume your life.

I would really ask yourself what you are willing to sacrifice for each level of the ladder you are willing to climb.

  2. To get onto a degree programme you WILL need good grades in Maths, English and sometimes Science (I'd go for biology, this features highly in theories of criminal behaviour and will prove invaluable). Additionally, take any social science subjects if your high school offers them (sociology/psychology etc). Do not underestimate the importance of mathematical skills. Whilst at university, I was a student advocate and the amount of both criminology and psychology students that dropped out due to the pressures of statistical analysis (when they had poor maths skills) was quite high. Good Luck, Psychology is a fascinating career and if you work hard, you will do well. :)
