i adopted my 7 month old puppy about 1 1/2 weeks ago. she is very lovable and affectionate, but in the morning she is really hyper and she bites everyone. not hard, but not nipping either. sometimes when we're sitting on the couch she'll run from the end of the room and jump up on the couch and behind us and bite us. she really is a beautiful dodg, but sometimes she gets to crazy. are there any ways that can help her stop?? p.s. she is a mixed breed and we have no idea what breed she could be.

  1. This is typical puppy behavior but like all young animals they need to be taught the difference between right and wrong. Encourage gentle play but confront bad habits right away. Using a squirt bottle is a great deterrent. Also i found using a loud verbal noise to show she is bad. Try not to say NO because in my experience they get used to that try using something like AHH this seems to work better as it is not common and the dog can very easily learn that this shows disapproval. try reading up on some puppy trainingmateriall as well good luck

  2. my dog is like that too.she jumps on the couch.and she nips at me.but she just wants to play.she just wants to play or go outside.give her lots of attention

  3. Well it depends if you have tried anything. If you have then I believe that you are going to have Disciplinary Action.

    1. Start out by when he bites you (or your family) take him off of you and say (bad dog, or Stop it, bad dog)

    2. If that doesnt work put him outside for a short period of time starting with 5 minutes. ( it depends on the weather) then let him back in.

    3. And if that doesnt work put his leash on a (inmobile) object in your house. And let him sit there until he calms down (if he is rowdy) and wait 5 minutess tops. Then release him.

    4. And if that doesnt work you should take him to a vet so you could learn to control him.

Good luck sweetie and if you have anymore questions email me at washington.candi@yahoo.com

  4. all puppiea are like that and she might be teething get her some puppy chew toys and that might help and you might want to start traming her to not bite jump ect. if shes a little shorter she might e a terrior and they tend to be a little hyper but all puppies are hyper like little kids mail me if you hame more proublms

  5. a few things to try:

    * get your pup some chew toys. squeaky ones are irresistible

    * more exercise - tire the pup out.

    * correction - a loud NO in your command voice is really necessary. make certain the pup knows what is considered bad behavior

and check the web site referenced for a more complete answer

  6. since your dog is just 7 weeks old, she will start biting people, because her teeth are growing and then if your dogs keeps doing it for quite some time well then you will have to train her not to bite.

  7. Just take her to the vet or phone it's me or the dog.

  8. she's mouthing.  you need to train her asap to NOT do that.  here's a good way to...

    1. get a little bike horn (or another distraction that the dog wouldn't like) and every time she does that, make the sound.

    2. if that doesn't get her, get something that will blow air (and make a sound, like hairspray, but just air so you don't hurt the dog) and softly blow it on the dogs back when she does it.

remember to never harm the dog, i saw this on "it's me or the dog"

you should also make sure YOU are the alpha
