  1. Next time you travel, go to the ticket office and ask them what is the cheapest way to travel, they are very helpful. A travelcard will save you a lot of money compared to paying as you go or buying single tickets. If you also travel weekends, it works out cheaper to get monthly travelcards but again, ask at the ticket office to confirm this. An alternative is to go www.tfl.gov.uk website to look at ticket prices there.

  2. As you travel often a travelcard will most probably be best for you. You can find out more details at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/oyster

  3. You'll be travelling at peak periods so the maximum you should be charged in a day is £7.50. Add to this £5.40 a day for weekend  travel, which is off-peak.

Now a weekly travelcard will cost you £28.40 and a monthly £109.10. Do a calculation to see how much you can save. The station machines will give you a record of your recent oyster usage and you can ask for a printout for a longer period. Make sure you touch in and out of a station. It's easy to forget when there's no barrier, like Finsbury Park, but it then costs you £4 per journey and no capping.

You can add a week or month's travelcard to your oyster through a station machine or over the counter. Keep a bit on

PAYG for when you want to go outside of Zone 3.

  4. Yes you are wasting oh so much money, you need to get a travelcard zones 1-3. you can get weekly or monthly.

You will save money. When you have a travelcard you can go on the train as much as you want for the one price you paid for the week.

If you are travelling to another zone like 4, for one day you could use the prepay, it will take away the extra money use to get in to that zone, or you can get an extension travelcard

  5. The alternative is to buy an Oyster with the zones you will be using, PAYG is always more expensive.
