and is now trying to do EVERYTHING in 1/100th of a second; that includes answering any question you have, eating breakfast, and yes, peeing. The more I tell him to stop, the more he just runs around in circles!

  1. Well, there is one of two scenarios going on here.  Is this the first time he has become so obsessed over something?  If he has a habit of becoming obsessed over things, it may be something he needs professional help for.

If not, then it would probably work best to ignore him.  Human behavior only continues when there is a pay off for it.  What is his pay off for his behavior?  He is most likely getting a lot of attention.  If you take that payoff away, the behavior will most likely stop.  Just give him minimal attention...  nod your head and say "that's nice" and move on to something else. You could even tell him "Im not interested in that any more" and stop responding all together.

Something to keep in mind is that human behavior also dictates that when we are not getting the response we are used to, we will INCREASE the behavior in order to get the desired response (Kind of like when we talk louder when someone doesn't respond to us the first time).  So, if you start ignoring him, expect that he will actually get worse at first.  Don't be discouraged!  That is normal and soon, when he realizes that you really are not going to give him the attention he wants, he will stop.  If you get frustrated and start yelling at him, then you are actually giving him what he wants (attention) and nothing will change, so you really need to commit to ignoring him even if it takes a while.  He will eventually give up.  Good luck!

  2. Try to tell him that michael phelps doesnt like to when by that much time, and that he wants us all to do everything normaly.

And how does you lil bro Know what 1/100th of a second is if hes only 5?

  3. Oh, let him have his fun. Eventually he will run out of energy & find something to to annoy you with. The only reason he's carrying on with this as long as he has is because it's getting him some attention, so he's going to keep doing it as long as it continues to work.

  4. honey talk to him he needs to be disciplined

  5. It's almost time for school to start and he'll find

    something else to do.

  6. He's being a pest.  Ignore him.  He's just a little boy looking for attention as kids often do. (I have to admit though, he sounds so cute!)

  7. That's how 5-year-old boys are.  Ignore him--completely.  He'll eventually get tired of it and stop.

  8. Ha ha, wow, that's quite a problem you've got there! I would suggest simply allowing him to continue. It will lose its appeal soon (especially when he realizes that it no longer annoys you). Good luck!
