Please help with broken cd :(?

i got this cd that will install my internet back again but its scratched they don't make the cd anymore so it going to cost me £30 unless i get it fixed i tried cleaning it up a a bit but it wont run properly it only works a little bit any tricks on how to make it run better or work better its scratched please help

It's a tough problem because anything you try could end up making the problem worse.  I've always read that if you use a toothpaste.  Not a gel, but a paste and you gently rub it on the scratches and then rinse it off it's supposed to make the scratches much finer and allow the CD player to use the disk.

There is also some kind of a plastic filler that's used to repair scratches in your glasses that is also supposed to work.

Finally I'll attach a couple of googled sites for how to repair the scratches.  Just remember to be careful you may only get one chance.  It might even make sense to see if you can copy the disk or to even install another CD player to see if it will have more luck reading the problem CD.
