help me solve these 2 equation and explain steps. I will use "()" to represent absolute value symbol.

-2(4x+1) > or = -4

and

(5x+3) > -2

  1. -2|4x+1| > -4

    |4x+1| > 2

    4x+1 > 2 and -(4x+1) > 2

    4x+1 > 2 and 4x+1 < -2

    4x > 1 and 4x < -3

    x > 1/4 and x < -3/4

    add "or equal to" to the inequalities

    The second one has no single answer because absolute values are always greater than a negative number.
