Question:

Please help with my GCSE options?

I thought I knew what to do, but I'm starting to think twice about my choices. I'm definitely doing these:

English Language

English Literature

Mathematics

French

I need to choose between:

Geography

Classics

History

Music (I think I should just leave this as an extra-curricular activity though)

Then I need to choose sciences:

I could do 1 separate science (Biology)

2 separate (biology, physics)

Dual - 2 sciences

I want to do biology for A level, and if I did just one science (biology) would I still be allowed to do it? Do I really need 2?

I'm going to do Latin as an extra, but without the GCSE.

What should I do? I can't have more than 8 subjects.

  1. I don't think you can choose to just do 1 science.

I think you can choose seperate science, where you get 3 grades for each different sciences, or dual science where you get 2 grades for the 3 different sciences.

If you're planning on doing biology for A level (which I did to AS), then chemistry does help somewhat in helping you understand certain things.

The other choices really depends on what you want to do for A level and university. Choose the subjects that well help you achieve what you want.

  2. I think you should pick history over geography, i done history gcse and i enjoyed it a lot. its also pretty easy. i had a friend that did history and geography and he said history was much better but i think its down to your personal preferance

about the sciences im not really sure

but if you can do seperate sciences i think they call it triple science thats when you do all 3 but get graded seperately for each one thats better than doing dual (i think thats called double award where you get graded 2 grades for the 3 sciences) for A level biology you just need to get a B in the sciences to get accepted for it
