I purchased a 1996 Honda CBR super sport for $1000.00 the engine and transmission work very good even the brakes and clutch everything works fine except it has excessive outside body damage because its been dropped to many times by the previous owner and I was wondering if I can replace just the body parts for a 2007/2008 Honda.

  1. Most likely not, because the 96 models are a whole different generation than the 07 and 08 models, so the attachment points are probably different and/or require different hardware.

Besides, why do you need all that body work anyway? Take all of it off, make it a s**y street fighter, sell off the bodywork somehow and use it to put some money into improving its performance, like suspension parts, a new exhaust etc.

  2. if you have the tools, parts, research, money and time...it can be done but it won't be easy...

it's better to just replace with 96 fairings...easier / cheaper

  3. Sounds like a stunt bike. Any bike dropped that much most likely has frame damage. You want to have it checked for frame damage first.

The newer modern plastics won't line up correctly with a 96. The s***w hole will be off. You'd need to have new s***w hole tapped into the frame and probably some metal, welding work done to accommodate the newer plastics.

Find out if the bike is worth putting money into before you start. You may just want to unload it onto some poor guy who doesn't know any better. Like some guy did to you. Or part it out.

  4. Probably not without extensive customization work. Probably best to see if you can find some good secondhand fairings and bodywork for your bike, and get it all painted an awesome custom colour scheme.
