I am e-mailing an resume and cover letter..

should I send them both as attachments in pdf? or should I copy paste the cover letter as the body of the e-mail and only attach the resume?

IF I attach them both, what should I write in the body of the e-mail?

secondly, can you give any advice on a way to make my cover letter stand out and grab attention?

Thanks for your help : )

  1. Well you should not copy and past the cover letter into the body of the email because it doesn't look as well.  Send both of them as an attachment and in the body of the email just write your name and address and phone numbers then on the bottom of that write Attached: Cover letter, Resume and make sure you write in the subject line the position that you are applying for.  Below is one of my cover letters that I have used for a job that I recently was hired for.

    Dear Hiring Executive,

I am writing in response to your posting for the current open position as a Life Skills Specialist.  I have attained my B.A. in Psychology from St. Johns University, and I believe that a chance to work for your organization will prove to be a great launch to a career that allows me to utilize my knowledge and experience. I currently still attend school on a quest to learn more about the Social Service/non-profit sector.  Attached is my resume, please consider me for this position.  If for some reason this position is filled, could you please consider me for any other position with your establishment. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  2. The resume is attached and the cover letter goes in the body. I am a professional resume & cover letter writer, but you'd just like me to do your cover letter, I can probably do that.
