So, we found this robin egg on my deck yestarday. We dont see any nests just the one egg. I dont think i should touch it, but what should i do? Do i need to call anyone? Is there any chance that the bird will hatch normally or regularly? P.S.... The mother is no where to be found.

  1. its probably already dead,if the egg is a dud the parents will move it or push it out of the nest...

  2. Well the eggs has to be sat on by the mother bird to get warmth so you have to keep it warm so yeah touch it but not alot.

  3. just forget about it. i found one too. no nest in sight, that means the babys gonna die. leave the egg alone. thats what i did. the egg just dried out eventually.

  4. That's a d**n good question.  You got me wondering too so I browsed some and found this site:

  5. You can put it back if you find the nest, the touching it thing is a myth, if you cannot find it nothing you can do an animal may have carried it from somewhere you will never find, its nest..

  6. It is too cold to hatch by now. There is a bird ( I forgot it's name) that pushes an egg out of another birds nest, and lays one of it's own egg in place. This is probably what happened to the egg.
