  1. 1)  2/7(4m-18)=12

    The 2/7 fraction needs to move to the other side, flipping the fraction in the process.

    4m - 18 = 12 x 7/2 = 42

    Move every term with the variable to the left and every term without the variable to the right, remembering to switch signs when you switch sides.

    4m = 42 + 18 = 60

    Divide to get m on its own.

    m = 60 / 4 = 15

    2) -5/6(9+2x)=40

    The same process as above solves this one too.

    9+2x = 40 x -6/5 = -48

    2x = -48 - 9 = -57

    x = -57 / 2 = -28.5

  2. ) 16d-(4-5d)=19

    -Distribute negative: 16d - 4 + 5d=19

    -Add: 21d - 4=19

    -Add again: 21d=23

    -D=23/21

    2) 7(6x-1)+x=36

    -Distribute: 42x - 7 + x=36

    -Add: 43x - 7=36

    -Add again: 43x=43

    x=1

    3) 2-sevenths(fraction)(4M-18)=12

    -Put into numbers: 2/7(4m-18)=12

    -Mutiply: 4m-18=42

    -Add: 4m=60

    m=15

    4) 75=3(-10T-3)+6T

    -Distribute: -30T - 9 + 6T=75

    -Add: -24T - 9=75

    -Add again: -24T=84

    T=7/2

    5) negative five fifths(fraction)(9+2x)=40

    NOTE: isn't negative five fifths negative one?

    -Put into numbers: -1(9 + 2x)=40

    -Distribute: -9 - 2x=40

    -Add: -2x=49

    x=-49/2 or 24.5
