A coffee distributor needs to mix a(n) Terraza coffee blend that normally sells for $9.50 per pound with a Costa Rican coffee blend that normally sells for $14.60 per pound to create 100 pounds of a coffee that can sell for $12.46 per pound. How many pounds of each kind of coffee should they mix?

  1. heres what i did

    x=terraza y=costarican

    using the above info, u get 2 equations:

    9.5x + 14.6y = 1246

    x + y =100

    solve these equations, substituting the second one into the first and u get:

    x=41.96 and y=58.04

    so roughly terrasa u use 42 pounds, and costarican u use 58!
