Please help!!!No color on tv - only when I use dvd player

Help! The color went out on my tv. It is black and white with a purple tint. When I watch a dvd on the same tv - it has color!!!! What is wrong?

GrumpyMac is probably right - the RF processing section of TV is bad. As a temporary solution, if you have a VCR around, you could use it as the tuner and hook it up to the TV with the composite outputs (the yellow, red and white cables).

When you feed the 3 wires from the DVD player - the colors are already separated. (You are using a SVideo or component cable). So your TV does not have to do any work.

But with an antenna feed - the TV has to do a lot of processing and that is the part that broke.

The AV cables you feed from your DVD player are by-passing the broken part of the TV.
