i really do not understand the tone of this quote and the meaning of it from the ''Julius Caesar play.'' the quote is....'' As Caesar loved me, I weep for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was valiant, I honor him; but as he was ambitious, I slew him. There is tears for his love; joy for his fortune; honor for his valor; and death for his ambition.''

  2. I understand it as, he had lots of good qualities, but it was all over shadowed by his ego. People loved most things about him, but his ego mad people hate him.

  3. The speaker mourned Caesar because Caesar loved him.  He was happy that Caesar had a good life, he respected Caesar's bravery, but he still felt like Caesar wanted too much and because of this greed he had to kill him.
