i have a one day homework thing and one of the questions is this:

Your parents give you 1 penny on the first day of the month, and gave you double that for the rest of the (30 day) month. How much do you end up with?

I need to use a calculator to solve it, and write how i solved it.

1= 1 day (2^0)

2= 2 days (2^1)

4= 3 days (2^2)

8= 4 days (2^3)

It is an exponential equation.  2^30= 1073741824 pennies

That is a lot of money!

2 times 30 = 60 minus 1 penny from the first day of month.  So your answer would be 59.  Is this what you mean?
