Please identify this huge plant!!?

Question

Can someone please tell me whta kind of plant or bush or tree that this is??!! The leaves are twice the size of my hands and it is probably a good 8 feet tall. I have another one growing in my back flower bed. The guy who lived here before us was a huge plant lover and planted alot of things, will add some of those i cannot identify later but I am still trying to figure out what this plant is that i think got 6 feet tall in about 2 weeks up by where i park. I don't remember seeing it last year and the stalk is sooo cool looking. Does anyone know what this is?

I agree, it is pokeweed, try some as part of your calory controlled diet......

They're right, it's pokeweed. The leaves can be cooked like spinach, but unless cooked properly can make you sick. Native Americans used it for food and the berries were used for making dye.

Sorry to say, but I think its a over grown weed.

Definitely Pokeweed.  Unless you have animals or small children that are prone to eating outdoor plants, I'd leave it be.  

Pokeweed is a favorite plant of many birds.  In fact, Pokeweed has several cultivars that are purposefully planted in many native 'habitat' gardens.
