Please inspire me...?

Question

I would like some suggestions of things to do, places to visit and adventures to be had in the north of England this summer... I really need to be inspired. Have thought about the Leeds Festival - might do that - can you suggest anything else I could do with the summer holiday?

I would go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach if you like rides :) It's really good!!!! And also go to Newcastle because the nightlife is amazing. Seaside towns such as Whitby and Scarborough are really nice too and there are two theme parks in North that i know of, Flamingo Land and Light Water Valley both very good. Go to Lake District maybe and you could camp. I went there last year and camped for a week, really ncie walks and lovely views. The forbidden corner in the Yorkshire Dales is really fun too, I've included the website. There's so much to do :)

York is good for beer. A good night out in Harrogate also. U could go to Knaresborough to see mother shiptons cave. Go to any number of Horse races (Wetherby, Thirsk, Ripon, Redcar, Newcastle). Go watch a footy match. Go on the Pickering steam train. Do the 8 pint walk on the North Yorkshire moors, along the railway track. Watch a cricket match at yorkshire or Durham. Go to the Motorbike races at Scarborough. Visit the black sheep brewery at Masham. My god, theres hundreds of things to do up North, and thank god the majority of them involve getting drunk !!

Or a fun tour of UFO activity in Scotland?

I'm out in California, so I only read about UK in books. Can you go to Cornwall and look up local history, do a cheese tour of certified dairies that make Stilton, do a cruise of the smaller islands between Scotland and Ireland? How about a cruise on the canals off the Thames?

Or just a plain tour of the castles in the north country, and take pictures of Hadrian's Wall?

Like I said, I've only read about these places in books, and visit vicariously in pictures posted on websites.

How about I take pictures of California, and you take pictures of North England, and we share? I'll be going up to Yosemite in 3 weeks camping, I will take pictures and post them on my Yahoo 360 page, and you can go to my page and comment and post pictures of North England on your site and visit online!

I really want to go and see those Anthony Gormley statues standing out in the sea.  What about Whitby and imagine Dracula is still hanging around.

Get a job in a tourist information centre
