I'm 16 year old girl who wants to be a librarian (or school librarian)

but I prefer to be a school librarian.

then, a school librarian(especially, elementary school) is required a teaching certification?

so should I take a bachelor's degree in elementary education??

I want to study English literature!

please let me know should I take a bachelor's degree in elementary education

  2. I believe no degree is necessary but it always helps to have experience.  My boss at my college library whom I work with has a bachelor's in high school English.

  3. My wife is a librarian. She got her bachelor's in Elementary Education, then a Masters in Library and Information Science.

    You need an MLIS to be a true librarian, otherwise you're just a library clerk. Modern librarians are information and research specialists, not just good at shelving books. Much of library information today is in online databases as well as books.
